My favorite movie of the year.

Since everyone at this time of the year seem to put out their 10 best lists I'd like to do my top 1 movie list from 2009.

And that movie is.... UP. The perfect combination of story and technical skill coupled with comedy and tragedy. The extras on the Blu-ray are amazing as well.

For some reason I've been singing this all day long.

And now you can too.

Note: this is also one of my favorite comedies.

Renegade Holiday Craft Fair this weekend.

Grizzly Bear a capella

This is a great video of the boys in Paris doing a version of their song "The Knife" sans instruments. Also of note is that this is one the few bands left that we haven't done a poster for but hope to be able to one day. This is a repost from our good friends over at the post family.

Check out this great Daredevil Pinup by R. Grampa

Rafael Grampá is a Brazillian artist known mostly for his graphic novel, Mesmo Delivery. I love his style - a combination of Mobius, Geoff Darrow and a bit of Paul Pope - you can't really go wrong with that combo!

Fresh Squeezed Ink

Tangent Lab will host Fresh Squeezed Ink, opening on September 25 this Final Friday. Art prints, gig posters and mixed-media works created with the use of screen printing will blow up the gallery with graphic spectacle. The exhibit has artists and studios participating from here locally and nationally, including Austin, Chicago, Minneapolis, Lexington and Tampa Bay to Green Bay, to name a few.Here's a listing:

Pretty good list by someone who knows what they are talking about. Not sure Chris Ware fits within the criteria but it's hard to leave him off any list of this sort because he is amazing. I'm also very glad my favorite Bill Sienkiewicz made the list.

Leading off the gig-poster-goodness that is Flatstock, the poster art show being held this weekend in conjunction with the Pitchfork Music Festival, gigposters.com founder Clay Hayes will be signing copies of the book along with Chicago screen printing giants Jay Ryan, Delicious Design League (that's us), Diana Sudyka and Steve Walters.

I'm sure there will be a bunch more artists there from around the country as well.

Eric Canete is pretty damn good.

If you know me, you know I'm a big comic book geek and one of my favorite artists right now has got to be Eric Canete. He's constantly updating his blog with amazing sketches that are incredibly dynamic and creative. Please do yourself a favor and check out his site.

Dune with Jodorowsky and Moebius?!

I had no idea, and that's why I love the internet.

Check out these amazing character designs by Moebius for what was to be Jodorowsky's Dune adaptation that sadly ran out of funding and was never made. Amazing and sad all at the same time.

New book by Jason from Fantagraphics

If you are not familiar with the work of Norwegian graphic artist Jason then this is the perfect opportunity to do so. This new collection of stories called Low Moon is absolutely fantastic and a very good example of why I think he is one of the best storytellers in the graphic novel genre. Instead of just illustrating a story he uses the images and text as perfect partners to convey an often melancholy short story. After you've read this, I would recommend Hey Wait and The Left Bank Gang.

If you haven't picked up a copy of the new Gig Posters Book then what are you waiting for? We're in it and so is pretty much everybody else who's anybody - It's a great book, it really is.
